My mother doesn’t read my blog.
We check in over the phone most Sunday afternoons to catch up on each other’s lives, and I always need to remember to tell her the things I normally don’t mention to people I am close to, because I’ve already written about them. I intentionally keep the content of my blog free from profanity and perversity under the assumption that my mother will eventually read it.
When I mentioned all this to her, she said she is far to busy at work to read and at home she never goes on the computer. I teased that I could print the whole thing out and mail it to her and she told me that was a lovely idea. I mentioned the environmental impacts and she encouraged me to use recycled paper. I opted not to explore the carbon footprint implications of mailing something from coast-to-coast. Maybe I will just convert this into a blog about porn and foul language.
Dear Mom,
I hope this has shamed you into at least skimming my blog occasionally. The next step is to post a comment. Click on “comments” at the bottom of this or any post. Fill in your name and email address (Don’t worry; nobody but me can see your email) and then write something nice. Then click “submit comment.” My 5 readers and I will all hold our breath until we see a comment posted by you.
Love,
Your son
HI Matt’s Mom!!!!! I am actually now kind of holding my breath…..
This reminds me of something – my mom **had** to Skype with me this weekend. It was a homework assignment for some “tech camp” educator class she was doing for her school district. I’m sure if I told her to read my blog, she would – once, and then forget where it was. I hope to actually have her stumble on it someday, and be pleasantly surprised.
1) I can’t believe I spelled my name wrong in my first comment.
2) I can’t believe I called you Matt.
Ugh! Too cute for words!
Unfortunately, my mother reads every word I write and does not always approve. What can I say? No one ever washed my mouth out with soap.
Ok, from now on I will be checking to make sure there is no porn or profanity! And who told Sammy that we used the tried and true method of soap in mouth for swearing? Matthew, I love your voice and blogs will never take the place of our weekly chats………I just love to hear the expression in your voice and sometimes it is the silence that lets me know how you really are doing…it’s a Mom thing, I guess. I am not shamed into reading your blog, but I am more curious and by the way, I have read it in the past. That is how I knew about TSB. I will try harder as long as it doesn’t interfere with our touching base by phone.
You have nice friends on your blog. What does Amanda call you , if not Matt? And what is skype?
Love ya
Ah! The real Matt’s mom rocks!
Quinn, your mom just almost made me cry. That is so adorable.
Quinn’s mom TOTALLY rocks.
And Manders, I wondered why you went with Amadna at first, I thought you were trying to be incognito.
